Nintendo confirme que les jeux Switch fonctionneront sur son système de nouvelle génération

Nintendo’s Next-Generation Console: A Promising Future for Switch Owners
As Nintendo gears up for the launch of its next-generation gaming system, it has reassured fans that their existing library of games will remain playable on the upcoming console, often referred to as the Switch 2. This announcement comes from Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who confirmed via social media that not only will Switch software be compatible with the new system, but Nintendo Switch Online services will also carry over.
Backward Compatibility Confirmed
In a recent corporate management briefing, Furukawa stated, “Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch.” This move is likely to alleviate concerns among gamers who have invested in the Switch ecosystem over the past seven years. The company has yet to disclose a formal name or release date for the new console, with expectations set for announcements by the end of Q1 2025.
Sales Forecast Adjustments Amid Anticipation
The excitement surrounding the new hardware comes at a time when Nintendo has had to downgrade its annual sales forecast. The aging Switch, now in its eighth year, has contributed to a significant drop in net profits—down 60% year-over-year. Nintendo noted that while unit sales were robust in the previous fiscal year, this year’s performance has been less favorable due to a lack of major releases and the absence of special factors that previously boosted sales.
Continued Success of Popular Titles
Despite these challenges, Nintendo’s game titles continue to perform well. Between April and September 2024, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sold 2.58 million copies, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reached a total of 64.27 million units sold after adding another 2.31 million copies. Other notable sales include Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door with 1.94 million copies and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD with 1.57 million copies sold during the same period.
Looking Ahead
As Nintendo prepares for the future, the commitment to backward compatibility is a strategic move that could enhance customer loyalty and ease the transition to the new console. With a strong lineup of games still performing well, the company aims to maintain its position in the competitive gaming market.
